Another cracking day of Storytelling, getting ready for our Children's Tale Trail on 13th & 14th April at The National Botanic Garden of Wales.
This time, recruiting Young Storytellers at Johnsotwn Primary School.
15 children from Year 4 have written wonderful coastal stories ... mostly ghostly!!
10 of those children came to a story circle to share their work with 6 children from year 6, who were recruited as the Young Storytellers for the Tale Trail.
All the stories were very good indeed, but the children chose the ones they thought they would be able to remember and re-tell.
We did a very intense 2 hour workshop of power read/share ... and step by step, became familiar with our stories. Once comfortable with the nuts and bolts of the story without any written word, we focussed on telling it through the physicality of our own voice, body & facial expression, putting our own personality into the work.
We had a working break and lunch before returning to year 4.
The 6 Young Story Tellers then told the stories they had chosen from the year 4 writers, completely from memory, with thier own interpretation.
Year 4 students could not believe what an amazing job Year 6 children did in telling their stories.
Well done everybody, you worked very hard, and your hard work paid off. We can't wait for your Young Storytellers to come and join our team on 13th and 14th April and share the stories with everyone at the event, as we trail around the beautiful Garden.
Many thanks to The National Botanic Garden of Wales for funding this pre-event work with primary schools, enabling the children to take ownership of their Tale Trail in terms of marketing and participating in it.
