I'm so excited to share with you the first story that has been sent in from Bigyn Primary School! It really makes me smile becasue Chez is my nickname! It's what everyone calls me, including the chidlren. My friend Sam is Creative Artist Sam Collins, who has worked with me as a volunteer and contracted artist for the last 3 years. Recently, these children worked with me on my new production, The Dragon Tree; A New Folk Story for West Wales, and Sam came in at the end of the project to replace Tenna Gould to Sam Collins: Creative Artistsupport the children with the Tai Chi to a piece of music I had written and recorded with dolphins in New Quay, with support from Seawatch Foundation & Ceredigion Wildlfe Trust. This gives you an insight into their storyline, and why it brough a tear to my eye ...

The Sea
by Chloe, Dylan, Megan, Charlie (Year 4)
One blue, shiny morning under the sea there was a beautiful mermaid called Chez.
Chez lived at the bottom of the sea where the fish hide. Her best friend Sam, the dolphin, loved jumping over the waves. Chez just loved to relax while Sam was jumping over the waves.
Chez and Sam were swimming at the bottom of the sea when they met a clown fish called Nemo. Nemo was a very nice friend to Chez and Sam. All that Chez and Sam wished for was to become human once again, but they had to find a wizard to cast a spell on them and turn them back to humans.
They went on a magical journey. They stopped for a cup of tea and then they carried on with their journey. Chez loved to play music. In fact Chez played music for a little bit on their journey, but then she stopped for a bit.
Then they met a starfish called Barry. Barry loved to relax like Chez. He still told them a way to get to the castle where the wizard lived. “Just follow that yellow path and you will be fine,” said Barry the starfish.
They met a hermit crab called Ben. Ben loved to walk side ways. Ben was a grumpy one, so Chez and Sam carried on with their journey. They finally saw the castle and by the castle the yellow path ended. As they knocked on the door Chez said,
“Lets hope he's there.” What a suprise - he was! The wizard said, “Come in” and then they sat in his giant castle. “Put these floating things on. Then you will float up to dry land and become a human when I do the spell. 3, 2, 1,” said the wizard.
Then they floated up and up and up to dry ground.  They were at Sandy Water Park and it was beautiful. Their dream came true.
Sam became a tai chi dancer and Chez became a musical prodigy and they lived happily ever after as humans

  1. Well done everyone. Actions are like a pebble being thrown into a pond, the ripples spread out a long way.

  2. Har har har - loud piratey laughter. What a great story, kids - especially the bit where Sam the dolphin loves jumping over the waves while Chez loves relaxing. Can't wait to hear this being told on the story trail. See you there, One-Eyed Wanda xx
