An insight into last year's Story Trail
EXCITING NEWS!!
THE CHILDREN'S
STORY TELLING TRAIL
AT THE NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES ...
IS BACK
Saturday April 13th
Sunday April 14th
Creative Director, Cheryl Beer is currently working with children in schools who will make the decisions about the trail. They are choosing their favourite story tellers from last year and planning to invite new people to join the team.
In addition, last year in feedback, children and teachers said that the children themselves would like the opportunity to become story tellers on the trail.
Cheryl has had meetings with Head teachers who have set their children the task of writing a seaside/coastline story, no longer than one side of A4, and these will form the basis of the story workshops.
It could be that the child who writes the story may not be the one who becomes the story teller. Perhaps children will buddy up ... writers and tellers ... it is up to the children themselves.
Children will then type up their stories in ICT lessons and Cheryl will upload them onto this blog so that they can read each others' work, and so that you can see their work too!
In addition, Cheryl will run Marketing workshops with the children who will design the fliers and postes like last year. These will also be uploaded onto the blog.
But the Story Telling Trail is not just for school children, it's a brilliant family day out set in the beautiful Gardens, The Great Glasshouse, The Gallery & The Theatr Botanica.

'Last year was our first Story trail and it was a fabulous success. We are so grateful to The National Botanic Garden of Wales for supporting the event again this year, and to all the story tellers who make it such a fabulous experience for the children. It is marvellous to see that the children have grown in confidence through the last year's event, feeling able ot make more of the decisions and becoming story tellers themselves this year.'
